Overview of SleepScriptMD

What is SleepScriptMD?
SleepScriptMD is an online insomnia clinic that offers AI-assisted asynchronous care and virtual appointments with licensed providers. Patients complete an online questionnaire, and a doctor reviews and approves treatment plans, often leading to same-day prescriptions The process is HIPAA-compliant, fast, and designed for convenience
Asynchronous care means you don’t need a live appointment—your intake form is reviewed by an AI-assisted system, with real doctors overseeing approvals. 95% of patients receive a prescription within minutes after their information is reviewed, making same-day prescriptions possible without delays. If any risks are flagged, a provider may request additional info or schedule a virtual visit.
Yes. While the AI system helps process data, a licensed provider always reviews and approves every prescription. No prescriptions are auto-generated without physician oversight, ensuring safety. If there’s any uncertainty, a provider may contact you or request a virtual visit before proceeding.

Patients We Can’t Treat

Some medical and psychiatric conditions require closer monitoring than online treatment allows. If you have severe mental health issues, high-risk medical conditions, or substance abuse problems, SleepScriptMD will refer you to in-person care to ensure your safety.
Patients over 64, under 18, or with severe medical conditions (e.g., uncontrolled heart or kidney disease) or active psychiatric disorders are excluded. If you’re on daily sleep medications or benzodiazepines, you won’t qualify for treatment through the platform.
If your case is more complex but not a complete exclusion, SleepScriptMD may require a virtual visit before prescribing treatment. This applies to patients on certain medications or with moderate medical or psychiatric concerns that need further evaluation.

Medications We Avoid

Yes. SleepScriptMD does not prescribe benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Klonopin) or Z-drugs (Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata) due to their risk of dependence. The platform focuses on safer, non-addictive sleep treatments.
These medications carry addiction risks, require close monitoring, and aren’t first-line treatments for chronic insomnia. SleepScriptMD prioritizes evidence-based, long-term solutions like non-controlled medications, behavioral strategies, and supplements.

No, SleepScriptMD is a self-pay service, and we do not bill insurance for our fees. All costs for asynchronous care and virtual visits must be paid out-of-pocket. However, you may be able to submit invoices for virtual visits to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan.
Medication costs are separate, entirely out of our control, and must be paid directly at your pharmacy. While many insurance plans maycover some or all of the cost, we cannot guarantee coverage and are not responsible for whether your insurance pays for it. However, most of the medications we prescribe are generic and commonly covered by insurance. We recommend checking with your provider to confirm coverage for any prescribed medications.

Our focus is always on long-term sleep improvement rather than just quick fixes.

Your intake responses determine a personalized treatment plan, which a provider reviews and approves. If needed, they may adjust it or schedule a virtual visit for a more detailed evaluation.
