About SleepScriptMD & Asynchronous Care
What is SleepScriptMD?
SleepScriptMD is an online insomnia clinic that offers text-based care. We use a 100% asynchronous medical model to get you safe, effective sleep relief faster than a traditional doctor’s visit—without the waiting room or the video call.
What does "asynchronous" actually mean?
Asynchronous care removes the friction. It means your medical care happens securely online, but not in real-time. You share your detailed medical history through a comprehensive, secure digital intake whenever it is convenient for you. Our board-certified physicians then review your chart, make a clinical diagnosis, and send your prescription—all behind the scenes.
Do you offer live video or phone appointments?
No. At SleepScriptMD, we use a 100% asynchronous medical model. We no longer offer live telehealth anywhere.
Is a real doctor reviewing my case before I get a prescription?
Yes. Your file is carefully reviewed by our highly trained, U.S.-based medical practitioners—not an algorithm.
Pricing, Insurance & Pharmacy
How much does it cost to use SleepScriptMD?
When is the $89 fee charged?
Because real physicians must thoroughly review your medical chart for safety and efficacy every time a medical decision is made, the $89 flat fee applies to any prescription event. This includes your initial prescription, standard medication refills, dose increases or decreases, and changing to a different medication.
Do I need health insurance?
Not at all. We operate on a strict self-pay model to keep prices low and transparent. You will pay the flat $89 clinical fee using any major credit or debit card via our secure checkout.
Will my insurance cover the cost of my medication?
The medication itself is paid for by you at your local pharmacy. These medications are usually covered by insurance, but individual results and copays vary. Because the generic medications we prescribe are so inexpensive, many patients actually find that using a free GoodRx.com coupon is cheaper than their standard insurance copay.
Are there any hidden fees or options for 90-day supplies?
No, but there are two optional add-on fees depending on your specific needs. If your insurance requires a prior authorization for your medication, there is a $39 fee for that paperwork. If you need a 90-day prescription, there is an add-on fee of $89 to make up the difference between our 30-day and 90-day prescription costs.
Where do I pick up my medication?
We can send your prescription to any pharmacy in the U.S. that accepts e-prescriptions, including CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, Costco, Amazon Pharmacy, Kroger, Trump Rx, and Cost Plus Drugs.
Patient Eligibility & Safety
Is Asynchronous Care Available in My State?
Telemedicine regulations vary across the country. We currently offer our 100% asynchronous sleep care in states that legally permit this secure, forward-thinking medical model and where our physicians are fully licensed.
Why can't SleepScriptMD treat certain patients?
Patient safety is our absolute priority. If a patient is considered too medically or mentally compromised for treatment via asynchronous care, our doctors will not issue a prescription and will advise them to seek in-person care.
What is the refund policy if I'm not eligible for treatment?
The $89 clinical fee covers the cost of our board-certified medical team carefully reviewing your file. Because the physician’s time and expertise are required to make a safe medical determination, this fee is for the medical review itself and is charged regardless of whether a medication is ultimately prescribed.
Treatments We Provide
What kinds of sleep treatments does SleepScriptMD offer?
We specialize in safe, evidence-based treatments. If approved, your non-habit-forming sleep medication is e-prescribed directly to the local pharmacy of your choice. Examples of the medication we prescribe include Trazodone, Hydroxyzine, Clonidine, Doxepin (sinequan), and Mirtazepine (Remeron).
Are there any medications that SleepScriptMD does not prescribe?
Yes. We do not prescribe controlled substances including all benzodiazepines and “Z-drugs” (Ambien, Lunesta, etc), or other habit-forming sedatives, as certain sleep medications are restricted for patient safety in an asynchronous environment.
How do I know which treatment is right for me?
You don’t have to guess. Our board-certified physicians review your comprehensive medical history and symptoms to determine the safest and most effective plan tailored specifically for you.
Are prescriptions the only option, or do you recommend natural sleep supplements?
While our medical team specializes in prescribing safe, non-habitforming sleep medications, we also strongly believe in holistic, natural support. Dr. Danish has curated several professional-grade, natural supplement protocols that you can purchase directly without a prescription. Depending on your symptoms, you can explore our specific sleep bundles:
- Gentle Sleep Essentials (No Melatonin): A blend of Magnesium Glycinate, Lemon Balm, and Chamomile for natural, non-hormonal rest.
- Valerian + Lemon Balm Duo: A powerful combination for restorative sleep.
- Melatonin Reset: Smarter, targeted melatonin support.
- Targeted Herbal Relief: We also offer customized protocols for individual, high-quality herbs like Ashwagandha, Lemon Balm, Chamomile, and Valerian Root to help naturally calm the nervous system and relieve stress
